It's Only the End of the World

2DCS12
Director:Xavier Dolan
Cast:Nathalie Baye, Vincent Cassel, Marion Cotillard, Léa Seydoux
Premiere:10. November 2016
Length:97 minutes
Genre:Drama

Director: Xavier Dolan  •  Scenario: Xavier Dolan, Jean-Luc Lagarce  •  Cast: Nathalie Baye, Vincent Cassel, Marion Cotillard, Léa Seydoux, Gaspard Ulliel

Louis is a successful writer who has been away from his family for far too long. Although he has never forgotten to send a birthday card, that can hardly be enough for his loved ones. Now he's back to announce his approaching death. Immediately upon his arrival, however, he finds out that it won't be that easy. At first, he must scrape through a clutter of frustrations, reproach and rather stifling love from all the family members, who are so preoccupied with their own feelings that they are barely aware of Louis himself and see only the fantasy that they've created in his absence over the years. Gaspard Ulliel, Vincent Cassel, Marion Cotillard and Léa Seydoux excel in Xavier Dolan's new drama based on Jean-Luc Lagarce's eponymous play. Dolan's distinctive atmosphere complements the apt portrait of a family which seems dysfunctional only until we consider our own.
