Family Happiness

Director: Tomer & Barak Heymann

Saar is one of seven children, but he rarely sees his family. Some of his siblings resent the fact that he left Israel for London, some have a problem with his sexual orientation and others are afraid that he might infect their children with HIV. After nearly 20 years abroad Saar is considering returning, which would mean confronting the reasons why he fled. Film makers and brothers Tomer and Barak Heymann managed to gain the trust of the protagonist and his family, and took part in intimate conversations about trust, fear and age-old injustices. The film won the Audience Award in Berlin and Krakow, and the Heymann brothers won the Audience Award at One World in 2007 for the film Bridge Over the Wadi.
