Sascha‘s everyday routine of working in a brothel changes when Maria joins the team. Mutual attraction flares, and a tender relationship blossoms between the two women, but their profession complicates it. Maria is partly able to distance herself from the work, but Sascha seems to succumb to emotional burnout. On top of that, as a divorced mother, she strives to preserve the relationship with her son, and cannot avoid the hard clash of the two worlds. Presented at this year’s Berlinale, the film depicts work in a brothel uniquely and without scruples, painting a complex image of the characters through a daring contrast of mechanical sex scenes alternating with moments of tender intimacy.
