When it comes to The Window and Rear Window (1954), it can be surmised that they were originally works of the same author – Cornell Woolrich. Significantly less known, but no less precise, The Window, directed by former cameraman Ted Tetzlaff, clearly evokes Hitchcock’s famous movie in its plot: the main hero accidentally sees a crime and tries to figure it out. The peculiar thing is that a little boy (Hollywood child star Bobby Driscoll) unconventionally played a lead role in the film noir. Since Tommy has a vivid imagination, it is no wonder that no one pays much attention to his story. The film will surprise with -for its time- a boldly and especially realistically shot final sequence, in which the boy tries to escape the killer. /Jana Bébarová/
