Alexei is a young Belarusian running away from a past he must bury. He makes a kind of Faustian pact and joins the Foreign Legion in exchange for the promise of French citizenship. Far away in the Niger Delta lives Jomo, a revolutionary activist engaged in armed struggle in defence of his community. Alexei is a soldier, Jomo a guerrilla fighter. Their fates intersect because of another senseless war. What is "otherness" and how do we perceive it in relation to who we are as we move through life, cross borders and find ourselves inhabiting an ever-changing physical and mental space? Giacomo Abbruzzese explores these questions with a remarkable sense of immediacy and great inventiveness in a visually striking work that is full of poetry and tension. People fall into a trance through which they learn new things about themselves and, through more open communication with others, stop thinking only about themselves. This magical reverie is accompanied by powerful music from electronic musician Vitalic, which makes the nightclub a transcendent space. Disco becomes the ultimate destination for all those who keep their eyes fixed on the sacred horizon of utopia.
